After contacting a number of mission agencies, we connected with an Indian-born and raised pastor in Dallas who is starting his own ministry: GROW Gospel Initiative. Intelligent, competent, and connected, W. J. Subash has a heart for the Church in India and is well-qualified for impacting the nation. Under the direction, association and training from Subash, we will be sent by our home church in California, West Lakewood Baptist Church.
Spending a little more than four months together in India, from June 24 through November 4, 2011, Kyle and I with some friends of Subash in Bangalore, Southern India, where we will spend 2 months. Our first month, July, we are spending with P.C. Mathew and Urban India Ministries, working on English-teaching cirriculum for slum youth, visiting slums and schools to teach life skills, creating a strategic fundraising plan, and enjoying the company of a great staff. In September we will be traveling around southern India visiting different churches and ministries, primarily working with Tribal Mission India.
For our fourth month, we will go up to Northern India to the capital of Delhi to partner with Catalyst India, a Christ-centered organization dedicated to taking children off of the streets and educating them with life skills. Catalyst's vision is to see a Resurgent Delhi where people are empowered, educated, environmentally conscious and leading economically sustainable life.
